Can The Synchronous Response Time Of Cascaded Safety Light Grids Be Adjusted?

The synchronization response time of cascaded safety light curtains is generally not adjustable, but in certain circumstances, it can be indirectly influenced by adjusting relevant parameters or settings.

 

Some light curtains can be adjusted through settings. For some brands of safety light curtains, such as the KEYENCE GL-S series, the response time can be altered by changing the channel settings in the optical synchronization system. However, this change is usually selected within a few fixed modes within the product design and is not infinitely adjustable.

 

Indirect influence can be achieved through calibrated scanning cycles: Based on patented optical synchronization technology for safety light curtains, the transmitter and receiver of the safety light curtain can determine the light-blocking scanning cycle of the timer. The transmitter triggers the transmission of a synchronization header signal based on this cycle. The receiver performs light-blocking detection based on the synchronization header signal and calibrates the timer's light-blocking scanning cycle, thereby achieving synchronization between the transmitter and receiver. This method can, to a certain extent, ensure that if the synchronization header signal is lost due to interference, the timing will be consistent with the last synchronization time of the synchronization header signal, indirectly affecting the synchronization response time.


Difficult to adjust due to hardware and system limitations: In most cases, the synchronous response time of a cascade safety light curtain is determined by factors such as its internal circuit design, communication protocol, and controller performance. These hardware and system-level parameters are fixed at the factory and are difficult for users to adjust directly. For example, some cascade safety light curtains from Sick have a fixed response time of 0.5ms and cannot be changed through user settings.
