Proximity sensors are generally used to measure the vibration of bearings and, in some cases, shafts. In order to obtain correct measurement results, we remind you to pay attention to the following when installing a proximity sensor:
1. Operating Temperature:
Generally, the temperature of the proximity sensor is lower than 120 degrees, and if the temperature is too high, the insulation of the proximity sensor will be damaged and demagnetized, and the sensitivity will be low. For high-pressure rotor bearings, the shaft seal leaks badly and the sensor cannot be placed on the bearing for a long time.
2. The measuring point positions must be consistent:
Generally, the vibration of equipment bearings in different positions varies greatly, so the proximity sensor is usually fixed by walking, rubber cement bonding and hydromagnetic chucks, and the measurement points at the position should be marked to avoid errors, because the measurement points at the front and rear measurement points are located. This is particularly important for vibration troubleshooting and vibration measurement of rotor vibration.
3. Swapping of proximity sensors:
In order to reduce the labor intensity of the test, the unit of the vibration test is a dozen sensors used to measure the vibration. For the same vibration, when measured with different proximity sensors, the sensitivity and phase characteristics of each sensor should be uniform and only exchanged through rigorous testing, otherwise large errors will be induced. In order to avoid measurement errors caused by sensor interchangeability is not good, the sensor (measuring point). However, the measurement results can only be compared with the vertical (back) and horizontally, so it is suitable to use the same sensor to measure the vibration of each point.
4. Avoid the occurrence of instability and resonance of proximity sensor fixation:
Regardless of which way the bearing is attached, the sensor must be tightly fixed to the object to be measured and must not be loosened, otherwise it will cause an impact on the sensor and the measurement results will be lost.
The sensor is fixed with a single bolt, which sometimes causes the sensor to resonate, and the sensor has more pronounced lateral vibrations. Induce measurement errors. In order to avoid the resonance of the sensor, the connecting bolt M8, and the contact surface between the sensor and the measured object must be flat, and the diameter of the contact surface must not be less than 20mm. If the bearing on which the metallurgy is applied to the sensor is fixed on the bearing, it should be as low as possible, otherwise it will be amplified by the measured vibration.
5. The installation direction and requirements of the proximity sensor should be consistent with the measurement direction:
Bearing vibrations tend to be particularly noticeable in a certain direction, and when the sensor direction deviates slightly from the measurement direction, the indication value of the instrument can change greatly, especially when using a hand-held sensor, and the sensor tends to deviate from the measurement direction due to the high bearing temperature and the softening of the rubber sludge. Therefore, attention should be paid to the installation of orientation sensors when vibrating.
