The M18 Retro Reflective Laser Sensor, as its name suggests, is a sensor that uses the photoelectric effect for non-contact detection. It typically consists of a transmitter, a receiver, and a detection circuit. The transmitter emits a beam of light (usually infrared or visible light). When the beam is blocked by a target object, the light intensity received by the receiver decreases or disappears, triggering the detection circuit to output an electrical signal, thus detecting the target object.

  • Reflection Mode: Supports diffuse, retro-reflective, or through-beam detection. Users can select the appropriate mode based on the application scenario. For example, diffuse reflection mode is suitable for detecting objects with irregular surfaces, while through-beam mode is ideal for long-distance, accurate detection.
  • Light Source and Detection Distance: Utilizing an infrared LED (660mm; 850nm; 940nm) as the light source, it offers a detection range of 0.15m to 10m. The diffuse reflection mode has a detection range of 0-15cm or 0-70cm, while the through-beam mode reaches up to 10m, meeting diverse application requirements.
  • Output Mode: Supports NPN/PNP normally open/normally closed outputs
  • Environmental Compatibility: Operating temperature range -15°C to 55°C (select models extend to -25°C to 70°C), ambient humidity 35% to 95%, IP65/IP67 protection, and protection against surges, overloads, short circuits, and reverse polarity.

FAQ

Q: What is the purpose of retro reflective laser sensor?

A: Retro reflective sensor are mainly used to detect and monitor the presence, position, and motion status of target objects. It can achieve non-contact detection within a certain range, with the characteristics of fast, accurate, and reliable. The following are common application areas for reflective laser sensors:

  • Automatic doors and security systems: retro-reflective sensors are used to monitor the entry and exit of personnel in areas such as doorways and corridors, in order to automatically open or close doors, providing safety protection and convenience.
  • Wire control and limit detection: retro reflective laser sensor can be used to detect the position, direction, and travel speed of objects, and are commonly used for limit detection, position judgment, and trajectory tracking of mechanical equipment.
  • Conveyor line and assembly line control: retro-reflective sensor can be used to detect the arrival, departure, and residence status of objects, achieving material transportation and process control on automated production lines.
  • Product Counting and Sorting: retro-reflective laser sensors can be used to detect and count products passing through conveyor belts, and sort and classify them according to preset conditions.
  • The printing and packaging industry: laser retro-reflective sensors can be used to detect the position, defects, and positioning of paper or products during transportation, improving the quality of printing and packaging.

The widespread application of reflective photoelectric sensors has made them an indispensable and important component in industrial automation and mechanical equipment.
