Q:How to install the M5 proximity Sensor?

  • Pre-Installation Preparation

‌1. Confirm Model Specifications: Verify the sensor's sensing distance (usually 0.8mm), output type (PNP/NPN), and supply voltage (e.g., 10-30V DC).‌
‌2. Tools: Screwdriver, wrench, torque wrench (as specified in the manual), mounting bracket (e.g., M5 thread adapter).‌
‌3. Environmental Check: Ensure the mounting surface is flat, free of strong magnetic interference, and that the temperature range meets the sensor's specifications (e.g., -25°C to +70°C).‌

 

  • Installation Steps

Mechanical Installation
‌Flush Mounting (Recommended):
Drill an M5 threaded hole in the device to a depth that matches the sensor's length (e.g., 25.1mm). Clean any debris from the hole. Thread the sensor into the threaded hole, ensuring it is flush against the metal being measured. The surfaces must be parallel and the distance between them should be ≤ 0.8mm.
Tighten with a torque wrench to avoid excessive force that may cause deformation of the housing.
Clean the mounting surface and remove any oil or rust to enhance adhesion.
Attach the sensor to the metal surface and adjust the position so that the detection area covers the target object.

 

  • Electrical Connections

Wiring Method of M5 proximity Sensor
1. 3-wire system: Brown wire to positive (+V), blue wire to negative (GND), black wire for signal output (PNP/NPN).
